Hello everyone,
We will soon post the first chapter of Book 2! I hope you'll like it and don't hesitate to stop by here to discuss about this sequel!
Working on the translation, I came across some funny things that I wanted to share with you.
Don't worry it's not really a spoiler, but it seems like everyone in Jingcheng wether they're good or bad, know that our fav' Chen Yu Zhi is the kindest human being and every time, each person will find a new way to describe CYZ's personality 🤣!!
In chapter 21 one someone would describe Chen Yu Zhi as làn hǎo rén (烂好人) which can be translated as "Someone who tries to be on good terms with everyone".
Not super convinced by this description I looked a little bit more about the meaning behind these characters on the Internet and found on forum reference.com that the meaning was actually truly beautiful (like everything concerning Chen Yu Zhi in that novel🤗…) In the forum they explained that:
Lan Hao Ren means a person who always tries to be helpful, sometimes even at too high of a cost, but fails to distinguish those in urgent need from those who just want to use him.
This person may feel it hard to refuse requests of people and can be considered as overly self-sacrificing.
Can you feel how much these words describes perfectly our favorite Chen Yu Zhi? 💜And this time it’s a bad guy who describes him like this… Even the thugs recognize the beauty of his character!
It seems like there is no specific word in English for that concept so I decided to go with “Good Samaritan.” Hope it will be okay.
On the other hand and in another chapter, Jiang Yue Lou found a new name for Zhao Jingming which is wēn shén (瘟神) which can be translated as "The Plague" or and this one is my favorite "Demon personifying pestilence"🤣🤣🤣
Jiang Yue Lou creativity has no limit!😂 And I don't think there is better word to describe Zhao Jingming!
Not everyone is lucky as CYZ when it comes to nickname! 🤣 (could it be simply because no one deserves such beautiful words as much as him ? 😇)
I also hope everything is alright with them.
And thanks, really happy that you love it. 🥰
Does anyone know if book 2 has been dropped or if the translators are just on hiatus? I miss our Jingcheng couple 😭💜💙, so if someone could let me know, thank would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! ༼ つ ◕◡◕ ༽つ♡
@killandheal4everHonestly. Book 1 adds depth and details that makes the drama more complete. The author was definitely talented and maybe expensive.
Which is why I think for book 2 they hired cheaper author, who only added few cute moments here and there and just summarized the series. It's rushed and doesn't add as much depth as I would have preferred. I wish they let you guys write the book 2 😂.
I hated how the wang meng capture and interrogation as well as escape scene went. It's weird how JYL and cyz tricked wang meng. Just my opinion. Anyway, you I am hyped about your version of book 2. The fanfics actually add depth to the series. Especially the. "visiting the in laws" one. It felt like I was reading the continuation.
Anyways, thank you for the hard work as always.
I don't like either that the title is implying JYL is a killer! And that's why when we wrote the synopsis to introduce the novel translation we slightly changed it to "the one who RATHER killed". (yes it was important to change it 😂😂😂😂)
And as always your analyzes is awesome!!! It's just like JYL said to CYZ in Chapter 5. It's not that he wants to be tyrannic or wants to kill people, it's because for him he has no other option. But as you said hopefully he met his little doctor💜💜💜
The fact that a character as pure and brave as CYZ exists it's already amazing, but the fact that he is here for JYL it's a blessing!
Sure enough, through the course of the novel JYL would have to save CYZ's life many times (I'm highly suspecting that the author likes to make CYZ suffer, putting him in so many damsel in distress situation 😂), but the one who really save the other is CYZ.
I think we said that already but JYL could have definitely turn as a Zhan Jun Bai if it was not for his meeting with CYZ.
you're right. What they did to this story is unforgivable.
😑
Yu Tang Chun is a righteous soul and he isn’t afraid of bad people. But he is weak and doesn’t have power for the fight with them.😓 This reminds me of something about the name of the novel and drama that annoys me. I don’t like the killer part in the name. Because I think that is referring to JYL.😐 And that’s not true. Killers are those persons like Zhan Jun Bai and Zhan Tian Qing who kills innocent people without grief and remorse also proudly bragging about it. If there are such a bad people, then there is definitely a need for a merciless and strong law man like JYL to defeat them. But the part of him that doesn’t do everything according his willing or crossing the line. Correcting the wrong parts is in Dr. Chen’s hands.💖😊😊
I never get bored reading your analyses!!!❤️
You're right there is a complete switch between Book1 and Book2 with
- Main characters >>>> actions for Book 1
- Main characters <<<<< actions for Book 2.
And you're right again as we loved Book 1 we are trapped we are gonna stay until the end of Book 2. And the more I read Book 2 the more I can tell it was rushed... There are some parts which are really, REALLY written as a summary, or like a page of a script... which is really awful... I still cannot understand why they changed the author or why they rushed the publication of Book 2.
But actually something similar happened with a drama I watched called "Novoland: Eagle Flag". The first 15-20 episodes were terrific and amazing and then suddenly plot quality fell down. And when I looked more into it it turns out that two productions teams were involved in it and that the first one (more qualified) worked on the first episodes and once the main plot was settle, left to work on another project and a second team came to finish the drama...
And as you said, people fall in love with the nice plot and the characters at the beginning so they will stay until the end no matter what :(
This way of doing things are really horrible and so irrespecutful for the people who create the story and for us we are watching it or reading it :(
And somehow this is the feeling that Book2 gives...
Okay I came back with a lot of thought. I hope you don’t get bored.😅
I like book1 too. To answer why I like book1, I must first explain my reasoning.
In my opinion every novel, drama, manga and other kind, which attracted the attention and affection of the reader or viewer has three important feathers. And it is writing good story, creating unique characters and developing relationship between characters. The latter, placed above others elements and it is an important factor for their success. Why it is like that because with this features we were able to be familiar with their personality and get to know their way of thinking and believe their existence. It’s when we take a liking in characters and feel what they feel. We are happy with their happiness and sad with their sorrows. It means we’re already part of the story too. This is where writers or directors have to be caution and be considerate. Any change in the middle and harm to fundamental of the story cans hart the readers and viewers as well. 😑
For the book1 the development of relationship between main lead was done smoothly with detail, that’s what I like about it. (Definitely it also has room for improvements)
In the book1 the whole story revolves around two main characters and the events complement the story. But in the book2 it’s seems like events are the main focus of the story and their bond was shown roughly time to time. In this case their fans were trapped. As before they want to follow their favorites and share their feeling in every moment of their lives. But the story show these moments transiently or indirect then pass it quickly. It makes us feel lost and furious. 😓
About author and characters matter we have some guesses. But I still want to read more chapter then we can talk over it.
Sorry for long message.😅
ahahah please, please, please try to find them again! I love reading your thoughts about the book!
Sorry for my late answer, the week was a little intense but finally week-end is here yeaaah!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words about the fan fiction! And this is entirely thanks to you! As soon as I read your comment about Anyone would have done the same Season 2 (love the name of this drama by the way 🤣), some ideas started to pop up in my mind and that's how that happened!!! So once again thank you, thank you!!!😀
For the secret about when Chen Yu Zhi did figure it out how Jiang Yue Lou decided to give him medicine in Chapter 16 (🙈🙈🙈❤️❤️❤️), I have no idea 🤣. But our doctor is so clever, having already figure out that JYL made the sign and bought the clinic for him, I suppose he is clever enough to figure out how he get the medicine (he is already wondering how actually in Chapter 16 ahah). Could be the story of a future fan fiction ?😀
@killandheal4ever Hiiiii
Wow thank you so much.❤️❤️❤️
I didn't think anyone write another season for "Anyone would have done the same"😚 As soon as seeing your post I rushed to read the story.🤣
That was so beautiful. 💕
You've got skills. It will be great if you continue writing more stories.
Can you please share with us that little secret that CYZ mentioned? 😊( JYL answer, nobody s allowed to know except me)
Ahaha you’re right and it’s really hard not to fan-girling too much on these 2 boys. But I still think that subconsciously there is a little piece of us in anything we are writing. The way we see things, the vocabulary we usually used for sure has to influenced a little bit 😀. Which is makes it really interesting
Hi @sky , Our conversation inspired me yesterday and I tried to write a little episode of your Season 2 of « Anyone would have done the same » 😀 I posted it on AOA : https://archiveofourown.org/works/31562024 It’s my first time doing that so I’m not sure how it looks like but I hope you gonna like it!
It's really interesting how a lot of people noticed right away the different writing style between the two books. You're not the first one to notice it!
Agree with you there are pros and cons with the change of style in Book 2.
In a way this sequel either in his actions or "romantic" sequences is most straightforward, explosive, fast paced (I would even say rushed) but also more "superficial" and short-lived as you said.
Whereas the first volume is more slow pacing, detailed and the emotional moment between the characters are more subtle and deeper. This volume is also rich with new scenes that never happened in the drama making it more intriguing as some stories are completely new.
I think I preferred the style of Book 1. I love the melancholy vibes the author has instilled in it and the way the characters' feelings subtly grow over the chapters. The access of JYL's thoughts and on his growing affection for CYZ is a delight to read.
As you said in Book 2 it looks like the author just wanted to tease us, playing hot and cold! The scene you mentioned when JYL returning overwhelmed to see CYZ at home is beautiful, full of promise, because what it's suggested here is really huge and the style is really closed of some scenes that we could read in Book 1 but really rapidly this moments are suddenly cut and we moved to another scene leaving us with not too much except frustration... It's really weird and I have no explanation for what happened here. Why the change of author? Why so few chapters for so many episodes to cover ? Huge mystery...
The scene where CYZ hugged JYL to stop him to shot himself would have been really awesome to watch in the drama but was probably a big "Hell no!" from the censorship xD Same goes for BJ asking JYL to bring CYZ for dinner, but for that one seeing how JYL is picturing it in his mind and stammering like a teenager bringing his first boyfriend at home, if it's hard to tell how BJ see the relationship of these 2, in JYL is pretty clear and obvious xD, the whipped and obvious JYL is probably one of my favorite elements of the novel!!! 💜
And for the season 2 for JYL part “Anyone would have done the same” who knows maybe we will start writing it ourselves =D
And for you, and maybe it's a little sooner to ask, but so far which book you prefer ? and why ? =D
I only read two chapters from second book but I truly can feel the different writing style. It have some disappointment and good point.
I highlighted some sentence, afraid it spoil chapter for anyone who didn't read it yet.
Finally, when we’re reaching to an emotional scene, it turns to smoke in the blink of an eye. For example, JYL is entering to the home, overwhelmed to seeing CYZ, and then all reader anticipating disappeared right away.😑
We have been expecting to read fluffier scene, unfortunately that wasn’t the case. But still like it, cause CYZ leveled up for knowing his feeling and expressing his emotions toward JYL. 💕
I think we readers want a season 2, for JYL part “Anyone would have done the same.” Or at least for once he should recall the scene.
The scene CYZ hugged JYL to prevent him from shooting himself was heartwarming. It would have been so good if this included in the drama too.
Just want to reminding Fun facts.😀😄
Bai jinbo: “When will you bring home CYZ for dinner? I haven’t officially met him yet.” JYL under what title would introduce CYZ to Bai Jinbo (father)? 🤣🤣🤣
I totally missed you publishing the first chapter, good now I could read two at once^^. It's really a pity the author rushed through the story so much. But there are at least some cute little moments 🥰 Will you release your edited version after you finished translating the second book? Thank you for your ongoing effort to make this book available for us 💜
You'r welcome, thank you so much!
Ahahah, our CYZ is attracting everyone around him (except for girls, as it seems they have only eyes for JYL's bad boy vibes 🤣) Ahaha I didn't know that idiom but it fits Zhao Jingming completely! You are as much as creative and poetic as JYL!😀
And so agree except with CYZ, JYL is mostly just a pain in the ass with everyone xD!!! And if JYL and ZJM should compete for the arrogance and mischievous award, I'm not certain who will win! ^^
Thank you for hard works. ❤️❤️
It was such a beautiful chapter.
He is like a flower that attract all bees.🤗 From what you explained, làn hǎo rén exactly describe CYZ. I like it.💕
"A Demon personifying pestilence." 🤣🤣🤣 It was so funny. Or we can say it like this,"the pot calling the kettle black."😂🤣
I like JYL. Honestly if we put aside his behaviors toward CYZ. Between Zhao Jingming and him, sometime I can’t say whose personality is worse.😊
If JYL was not a policeman, he would be a good poet with mischievous behavior. (Lonely wolf of Jing Cheng)🤔😄😄
